Fragments of the laser harp «novaYA» performances at various events. (Booking the laser harp and the laser show for a wedding party, private event, or corporate meeting).
«novaYA» is the world's first opera diva who plays the futuristic musical instrument (laser harp). The unique show includes laser beams live playing by various sounds, charming opera voice, luminous dress, and video projection. This combination will make an unforgettable announcement of your event and a photo report from a gala event, corporate party, private party, or wedding banquet.
The primary difference «novaYA» and other laser shows are that the soloist really creates music by playing on laser beams. This is not an imitation of performance due to the learned hand movements and familiar laser effects. Our laser harp is a real musical instrument. Therefore (immediately after the show) we can do a master class with the guests of the event and give them the opportunity to play the laser harp themselves. This will convince everyone present that this is a reality and not a dummy. Also, the laser harp can be used for the interactive zone (detailed below).
To create a WOW-effect, the optimal time of «novaYA» show performance is 8-10 minutes. The show program includes a mix of 6 bright songs in various styles (stylish modern opera, driving electronic music, and ethnic sound). If necessary, the duration of the show can be increased due to interactive laser harp playing for the guests of your event (this is an additional 7-10 minutes). In this case, the total timing of the laser show will be 15-20 minutes.
If your event needs another bright show, you can additionally book the 3D dress singer and the LAFESTA music band. The line-up of these projects is the same: the soloist Olha Rossi and 2-3 people. This fact will help reduce the cost of technical support, transfer, and accommodation. Also, our shows can be supplemented by other artists (to choose from modern ballerina, flutist, or electric violinist).
Since the laser harp takes up very little space (this is a small case ща 40/30 cm), it is possible to organize a performance in any location. The only conditions are the absence of bright lighting, the height of the ceiling above the harp is at least 2.5 meters, and the possibility of creating a slight fog through the use of a smoke machine or a hazer (for the visibility of laser beams).
The laser harp show can be used not only indoors (restaurants, clubs, theaters, conference halls), but also outdoors. Some of our most unusual outdoor performances have been: the tour company party on a yacht, the wedding on the beach in Dubai, the birthday celebration in a private villa, the scene in the middle of the pool in a resort hotel, the street festival in Greece.
If necessary, we can create a special musical program for the theme of your event (if there is enough time and the music matches the format of our show). For example, we created several tracks of Arabic music style for a concert tour in Saudi Arabia. Also, the laser harp show is successfully integrated into other concert shows, theatrical performances, or original event scenarios. So it was during a big conference: the presentation of «Deloitte» company was sounded by a live playing on the laser harp with various sounds and melodies.

«novaYA» show has already been performed at such significant events as: «The Person of the Year» award ceremony; the gala dinner at the royal palace of Bucharest (Romania); the wedding of Sheikh's son of Ras Al Khaimah (part of United Arab Emirates); the award ceremony of Italian designers in the «House of Architecture» («Casa dell'Architectura», Rome, Italy); the television shows at the National Opera of Ukraine; and many other events, presentations, and parties.
The soloist of the laser harp is a professional opera singer (Olha Rossi). Her charming voice sounds in the soundtracks of the TV-project: «Fashion TV», «High Life», «Madrid Fashion Week». She is one of the few singers in the world who professionally sings 3 different voices (vocal manners): opera, pop, and authentic/folk. Olga has a higher academic vocal education (National Music Academy of Ukraine). She performed leading roles in famous opera performances and became the winner/laureate of 6 vocal competitions. In December 2019, Olha was awarded the "Woman of the III Millennium" award for her contribution to the development of contemporary music and art.
The laser harp is a harmonious combination of classical art with innovative technologies and will become the most memorable performance of the event. It looks like a real harp, but instead of strings, it has 13 laser beams directed to the top. Each beam corresponds to a certain note and through a connected special MIDI controller, the laser harp can be played with a variety of different sounds, instruments, and effects. This makes it possible to integrate the laser harp into any concert program: like a classical symphony orchestra concert or electronic dance music in a nightclub.
«novaYA» show project performs with an open laser harp (unlimited by the harp case). Laser beams can reach the sky almost indefinitely, and at indoor concerts, they are limited only by the height of the ceiling. It looks especially impressive on the big stages of opera houses or concert halls. In such locations, the laser harp will look more bright and bewitching than any other musical instrument.
Sometimes, a laser harp is mistakenly called a neon harp or an LED harp. In fact, a led harp is just an ordinary harp, which was decorated with a luminous LED strip for greater presentability. The same applies to the neon harp. Some artists stick neon lights on musical instruments or costumes to call their performance a "show" and ask for a higher fee. Although the beams of the laser harp look like neon strings, and it fits perfectly into the theme of a neon party, calling it a "neon harp" is not entirely correct.
Technical requirements for the laser harp show:
Hospitality rider (requirements) for Zurich and vicinity
Hospitality rider (requirements) for tours:
1. How much stage space is needed for a laser harp?
The laser harp is a small black box (height – 25 cm, width – 40 cm, depth – 30cm.). When the laser harp turns on, 13 vertical beams appear. The length of the laser beams is limited only by the height of the ceiling.
2. How long does it take to connect the laser harp and soundcheck?
If all items of our technical requirements are prepared before a soundcheck, the whole process of placing, connecting, and setting of sound will take 30-40 minutes.
3. When is the best time to put the laser harp on stage and should it be on stage for the duration of the event?
If the laser show is performed at the beginning of the event and the concert program, then it is better to make a sound check 60 minutes before the guests arrive at the location and keep the laser harp on stage before the show.
If the laser harp performs at the end of the event or it`s impossible to connect the harp an hour before the event, then we can make a sound check a few hours earlier and remove the harp from the stage.
We need 3-5 minutes before the performance to put the laser harp on the stage again (it`s better if something distracts attention from the stage at this moment). Touching and moving the laser harp by other people is prohibited!
4. How dark should it be for good visibility of the laser beams?
The less illumination, the better the laser beams are visible. Ideally, it should be a blackout, but slender decorative lights will not be a problem. The beams of the laser harp and the luminous dress of the soloist,
and the screen will create partial illumination of the location. Therefore, additional light will impair the visibility of the laser beams.
5. Can the duration of the laser harp show be longer or shorter than 8 minutes?
The performance can be shorter (7, 5, or 3 minutes), but there is no need to lengthen it. The main aim of the laser show is to create a WOW effect for the audience and 8 minutes is enough.
We can increase the duration of the show by adding interactive for guests (7-10 minutes). Thus, the total timing of the laser harp performance will be 15-18 minutes.
6. How the interaction with the laser harp looks like?
There are 2 options for the interactive: on the stage or in a separate zone. The interactive on the stage is held by the event presenter immediately after the laser show and lasts 7-10 minutes.
It`s better to invite 2-3 of the most active people to the stage and give them the opportunity to improvise on the laser harp. It always looks more interesting and funnier than trying to memorize some melody.
Interactive in a separate space of your event can last 30-60 minutes and will help many guests to play the laser harp. There, everyone can ask questions, play the laser harp and take pictures.
This location must meet the conditions of our technical requests.
7. Do you have your own video for the stage screen? Who should turn it on?
Yes, we created our original video for «novaYA» laser show performances. Usually, we give the video via flashcard to your VJ during the sound check or upload it to a sharing service in advance.
8. Is it possible to perform if there is no LED screen at the venue?
This is not a problem, since the main show is the laser harp and the opera diva in a unique luminous costume.
9. How many people participate in the laser show?
Usually 2 people: the singer on the stage and our DJ/sound man, who can be located near the stage, but no further than 7-8 meters from the laser harp (this is due to the optimal length of the USB cable of the laser harp controller).
For an additional fee, we can add other artists to the laser harp show (optional: ballerina, flutist, or electro violinist).
10. Is it possible to do the laser harp performance with other music tracks?
We can play any music (the anthem of your company or the wedding dance) on condition that we have enough time to prepare the performance and we are given a qualified minus music track.
It should be extra paid. Definite melodies and music styles cannot be performed with the laser harp due to the discrepancy between the melody with the format of our show.
New musical instruments that are very different from existing ones don`t often appear. However, innovative technologies have also reached the art of music, making possible the emergence of such a futuristic instrument as a laser harp.
Even the appearance of the piano after the harpsichord or the emergence of the saxophone after the clarinet was not so radical and surprising. All these musical instruments are similar to their predecessors. But the laser harp is fundamentally different from other musical instruments because you have to play on streams of light (laser beams) without touching any physical objects (keys, strings, bows, etc.). In terms of originality, only the theremin can be compared with the laser harp, where electromagnetic waves are used for playing. But the theremin loses a lot to the laser harp in visual perception. In fact, the laser harp itself is already a bright full-fledged show.
The laser harp can be divided into two types: the framed and the frameless. The first option has an integral frame like a classical harp. At the bottom are located the lasers, and at the top of the frame are photodetectors.
When a hand touches a laser beam, it detects an interruption in the light flux and sends a signal to the midi controller to turn on the sound. It's like a mix of laser signaling with a synthesizer.
The frameless laser harp is better than other harps because its beam strings are not limited by the framework of the body and during the open sky performance they tend endlessly into the sky.
The author of this unique musical instrument is the French engineer Bernard Szajner, who created the first prototype of the laser harp in 1979. This period of time coincided with the release of the iconic sci-fi film ("Star Wars"), where the lasers found another use - the Jedi's lightsaber.
Subsequently, another French engineer (Philippe Guerre) took up the improvement of the laser harp and radically changed the principle of its operation. Due to the fact that the software was modified, the same beam could change its tone, depending on the height at which it was blocked.
Guerre demonstrated his laser harp at the concert in honor of the twentieth anniversary of NASA in Houston. However, Guerre's laser harp was big enough and consisted of four meters of construction of aluminum and transparent tubes. This fact didn't contribute to the popularization of such a laser harp and it vanished together with the computer which occupied the whole room. Guerre demonstrated his laser harp at the NASA 20th Anniversary Concert in Houston. However, Guerre's laser harp was big enough and consisted of four meters of construction of aluminum and transparent tubes. This fact didn't contribute to the popularization of such a laser harp, which needed a large truck to transport.
Although the laser harp was still in the process of being improved, Jean-Michel Jarre demonstrated a new example at a concert in China in 1981. The audience liked the novelty so much that the mass media spoke about it with admiration. After this show, Jean-Michel Jarre has long been the only popularizer of the laser harp.
Until the beginning of the 21st century, the laser harp had only one color of beams (usually green). Therefore, the next step was the appearance of a laser harp with two shades of beams (red color was added). This technique developed very fast, and soon there was a multi-colored laser harp with a choice of colors.
Currently, novaYA is using the most advanced laser harp model, which was specially created for this show. We have the ability to use any of the colors of the laser beams (from turquoise to crimson) and change the number, width, and slope of the laser harp beams.
